IRS usernames for many online services won’t work after May 16, 2023
Abstract: Sign-in changes are coming for access to many IRS online services.
Beginning May 17, 2023, the IRS will require an ID.me account to access certain online applications for taxpayers and tax professionals. The IRS will no longer use the Secure Access system, which provided support for IRS usernames. ID.me is an account created, maintained, and secured by a private technology provider.
If you don’t have an ID.me account, you must create a new account when accessing these services.
TAS will share more information as it becomes available.
