The 2026 IRS Nationwide Tax Forum will take place at the following locations this summer:

| New Orleans, LA | August 4-6 |
| New York, NY | August 18-20 |
| Orlando, FL | September 1-3 |
| San Diego, CA | September 15-17 |
During the three-day event, we invite you to take part in a number of TAS-sponsored activities:
National Taxpayer Advocate Town Hall
Returning to the 2026 Tax Forum, attendees have a special opportunity to participate in an interactive National Taxpayer Advocate Town Hall session. As the “voice of the taxpayer,” National Taxpayer Advocate Erin Collins and Deputy NTA Kim Stewart encourage you to bring tough questions, systemic challenges, and success stories to these engaging discussions. (Wednesday, 4:30-5:30 p.m.)
TAS Case Resolution Room
Also returning this year is the popular TAS Case Resolution Room, one of the most beneficial programs for tax professionals representing taxpayers with long-outstanding, unresolved, and problematic issues with the IRS. TAS and IRS experts will be onsite to review your toughest case, research the issue, and work with the correct IRS partners to resolve the case during your appointment.
Attendees can schedule their appointment onsite or take advantage of the online pre-booking option on the Case Resolution Room Appointment Booking Site. This streamlined approach allows attendees to:
- Reserve their appointment at the Case Resolution Room;
- Upload the relevant documents needed to resolve the client’s case; and
- Receive confirmation of the scheduled appointment.
Online booking will be open for one week, Wednesday to Wednesday, three weeks prior to each Tax Forum event. Visit the appointment booking site for more information about scheduling your appointment and the required documents for your session.
Remember: attendees can bring one client case per event.
TAS Focus Group
Share your feedback and experiences by participating in the TAS focus group about identifying and elevating systemic issues in tax administration. When tax practitioners share their insights, they play a direct role in advancing fairness, efficiency, and trust in the tax system – helping to reduce the overall burden on taxpayers.
During this focus group, TAS invites attendees to share recurring challenges seen in practice, and issues that create widespread burden, delay, or inequity. Register for the TAS focus group onsite at the Tax Forum (space is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis).
Seminars
Attendees will hear directly from TAS and IRS subject matter experts, as well as national association partners, on tax law, policy, digital tools, and compliance issues that affect tax pros and taxpayers. Of the more than 40 CPE seminars and workshop offerings at the 2026 IRS Tax Forum, TAS will present two topics:
- Coloring Outside the Lines: Shaping the Future of Tax Administration. This session provides an overview of the NTA 2026 Purple Book and how its legislative recommendations influence tax policy and procedural reform. The session will also explain how stakeholders can raise systemic issues to influence tax administration. You will gain insight into current procedural reforms and how to engage with TAS to help drive meaningful improvements; and
- Representation 101. This seminar will cover Form 2848, Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative, and Form 8821, Tax Information Authorization, with an explanation of the distinctions between representation and disclosure, and the legal “scope of authority” under Treasury Department Circular No. 230. The session will also explain how TAS can assist with authorization issues, including procedures for Expedited CAF Processing in TAS cases.
More Engagement Opportunities
Representatives from the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel (TAP) will be available at each Tax Forum location to get feedback about any tax issues practitioners are experiencing and educate tax practitioners about the TAP mission and impact. Also, TAS representatives will staff a Tax Forum engagement table to continue conversations, learn more about how tax practitioners and their clients can partner with TAS, and share additional insights.
